Artist’s Statement

I had the good fortune to paint plein air with my first college painting professor, Carl Schmalz, at Amherst College at the age of 19. There is nothing like painting outdoors to give an artist a sense of color and value and light. Over the last several years, plein air events have been sweeping the country and competition is fierce to be juried into these exciting events. Some of the events that I have been accepted into include:

  • Bennington Plein Air 2013

  • Easels in Frederick 2014 and 2016

  • Easton Plein Air 2015

  • Annapolis Plein Air 2016

  • Mountain Maryland Plein Air 2016

  • Plein Air Rockies 2016
