Leon Doucette is a young New England based oil painter who works primarily with portraiture, figure, and still life. Born in the small fishing community of Gloucester, Massachusetts, he was raised in an atmosphere of both traditional artistic values and hard-nosed New England work ethic. In 2011 he received his BFA with a concentration in painting from the New Hampshire Institute of Art. As a student, among other exhibitions, he was involved in the prestigious 2010 Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition exhibition. His paintings are characterized by their soft tonal modeling, diligent brushwork, and often solemn atmosphere.
