Robin Thornhill
Being born and raised in Massachusetts, I have spent a lot of time near the coast admiring the marshes and beaches of New England – the inspiration for most of my paintings. I am primarily self-taught and always striving to learn. Throughout the years I have taken courses which include life drawing, design, advanced drawing, and finally oil painting, which has changed my life forever. I began to oil paint in the fall of 2006 and soon taught myself how to use pastels, and although I will always try to convey the beauty and greatness of the surrounding New England landscape, I also paint still life, figures and portraits. As of recent, I have added the beauty of encaustic to my list of mediums that I am exploring..
I am a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, a juried member of Oil Painters of America and The National Assc. of Women Artists, a member of the Newburyport Art Association and the Experimental Art Group of Rockport, and a core member of the Band of Brushes – a plein air group based out of Newburyport, Massachusetts.
